Mahjong tile care

Care for the tiles you love.

Acrylic tiles do not want alcohol, ammonia or a bowl of soapy water. They want a dry routine and a cleaner that lifts oil without touching the ink. That is all we make.

The collection

Four pieces, one routine.

Start with the dry kit, add the foam when the tiles need more than a polish, scale to a club pack when a whole table is in play.

Why specialty care

Most tile damage starts with the wrong cleaner.

American sets are hand-painted acrylic. The print sits on the surface, and the engraved grooves hold whatever you put in them. Household products are built for glass, counters and hands — not for a painted tile face.

Do

  • Wipe with a dry microfiber cloth after each session
  • Use a soft brush in the engraved characters
  • Clean with a pH-neutral, alcohol-free foam
  • Let tiles air dry before they go back in the case

Don't

  • Use alcohol, hand sanitizer or disinfecting wipes
  • Soak tiles, or rinse them under a tap
  • Spray glass cleaner or ammonia on the face
  • Apply wax, silicone or furniture polish
The routine

Three steps, under five minutes.

01

Clear and dust

Empty the rack and wipe each tile with the dust cloth. Dry, light pressure — this removes chalk and lint before it turns into a paste.

02

Clean the face

One pump of foam onto the cloth, not the tile. Work the engraved characters with the soft brush, then wipe the face once in one direction.

03

Polish and store

Finish with the anti-static cloth. Let the tiles air for a minute before they go back in the case, so no moisture is trapped against the print.

Clubs, leagues & studios

A club set is touched by dozens of hands a week.

A weekly club night can put more hand cream, snack salt and lipstick on a set than a home table sees in a year. The Club Care Pack is sized for that pace: 24 cloths, two foam cleaners and a laminated flow card any member can follow.

Where it comes from

Made where the tiles are made.

Pavilion Four is the care line of a mahjong workshop in Guangzhou that has been building acrylic sets for North American buyers for years. We know how the print is applied, how the edges are polished and what the material does after a hundred sessions — because we make the tiles too.

The brands that publish care guides do not sell the products. We make the tiles, so we made the care. Pavilion Four, Guangzhou
